In India 2%, one in every 50, over 26 million people, suffer silently with their intellectual disability (ID). Individuals with intellectual disabilities have impaired intellectual functioning (such as learning, problem-solving, judgement) as well as adaptive functioning (activities of daily life such as communication and independent living).

Jai Vakeel Foundation is the oldest and largest non-profit serving children with Intellectual Disabilities and catersto over 3000 individuals annually, across varying age groups and varying levels ofintellectual and other associated disabilities such as autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and visual or hearing impairment.

Job Role: Head – Healthcare

Location: Sewri, Mumbai

Reporting to: CEO, Jai Vakeel Foundation

Summary of the Role: ATo align the organization’s strategic long-term / short-term objective for improving holistic well-being of People with Individual disability (PwID’s) and increase the spectrum of inclusion.

To expand capabilities of PwID by introducing appropriate and effective assessment for personalised interventions to deliver best available therapy for its students.

To enhance the capabilities of the team comprising of Therapist, Doctors & Social Workers to deliver effective therapy for its students.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Effective clinical assessment of every child being admitted to all schools of JVF
2. Accurately identify students in need of therapy and provide high impact therapy.
3. Accurately identify students in need of medical/para medical interventions and effectively impart the same.
4. Strong parent engagement to empower and equip them with knowledge and strategies to better manage their child’s disability. Assist the families in accessing different interventions and schemes desirable for the students.
5. Effective Coordination with all schools of JVF to ensure maximum synergy between therapy and curriculum for student’s development.
6. Conduct continuing rehabilitation education programmes in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Council of India for addressing the training needs of professionals working with individuals with disabilities.
7. Evaluate assessment measures for measuring impact and efficacy of programmes or interventions.

Qualification: Bachelors in Science, Medicine or Psychology with masters in Behavioural Science or MBA will be preferred.

Experience: 15+ years in Public Health Care with specialization in the disability sector will have an added advantage.
